Abstract

Broadband optical sources are used for the optical communication applications. They are useful as equipment for the fiber-optic component test. The most appropriate for these purposes is the use of semiconductor lasers coupled with optical fiber. Such sources cover the entire required spectral range, provide high input power to the tested devices, provide a high signal-to-noise ratio, are convenient and affordable to use. The possibility of obtaining such a broadband optical source using the nonlinear effects in fiber has been confirmed by computer modeling in the OptiSystem program.
